2014 Academy Award for Best Editing for GRAVITY
Mark has worked in the film industry since 1994, racking up an impressive list of credits that includes ALICE IN WONDERLAND, CHILDREN OF MEN, TROY and three JAMES BOND films. He has worked closely with filmmakers such as Tim Burton, Alfonso Cuaron and Wolfgang Petersen. He spent three years working with Cuaron on GRAVITY, a journey that took the film from conception though to its acclaimed release. With the film opening to huge box office and critical success, Mark has recently won editing awards from the Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Chicago Critics. He has also been nominated for the 2014 BAFTA, EDDIE and ACADEMY AWARDS.
He is based in the UK and is currently editing THE LAST KNIGHTS, starring Clive Owen and Morgan Freeman.
The documentary. The Blood of Yingzhou District(2007), coproduced with the CHINA AIDS MEDIA PEOJECT, has won the Best Documentary Short of the 79th Academy Awards. It also made Michelle Mi the first Chinese female producer who has won the Oscars.Another documentary China’s Unnatural Disaster: The Tears of Sichuan Province(2008), a coproduced documentary by Michelle and HBO, has been nominated for the best Documentary Short of the 82th Academy Awards.As a professional producer, Michelle Mi has been working in film, television, and TV commercial planning and production for more than eighteen years.In 2009, Michelle Mi founded MZ Pictures-a film production company that is made of a strong team consisting of local and foreign professional expertise. Michelle Mi insists on a “win-win” philosophy between art and commerce for she has a deep understanding of traditional Sinology as well as the professionalism of producing. With such philosophy, she has created a series of feature films and documentaries with a strong taste of Chinese culture. Recently her completed works, Cherries and Dowry, are attending film festivals and under distribution all around the world.
Worked in more than 30 countries and has garnered awards from the World Press Photo, National Geographic, Photographie de la Paris and he has been featured by BBC, PDN, Foreign Policy and Le Lettre de la Photographie. He also summitted Mount Everest and is a Nikon Professional.
Patrick Dodd is a filmmaker with over 100 credits to his name. He was the supervising sound editor on the movies “Se7en” and “Reign of Fire”, the supervising ADR editor on “The Mummy”, and the dialogue editor on “Ed Wood”. He is currently a co-founder of a new production studio studio in Wuxi, Film China 3D. In addition to being a guest judge and speaker at the Shanghai Student Film Festival this year, Patrick will be introducing a new filmmaking competition for the event: A scriptwriting challenge.
