Tools
S2F2 wants you to have the best tools available for you to use to make your films. That’s why we’ve created this repository of online, film-making tools for you to work with. Check some of these tools out to see if you’re interested.
SCREENWRITING
Adobe Story – Adobe has, oh, so kindly, created a web-based, screenwriting program, entitled Adobe Story for you to use. This program properly formats screenplays and enables you to save your work online (or work collaboratively). In addition, it allows you to export your screenplay in a variety of formats (including Word and Final Draft. An excellent tool. NOTE: In order to use it, you must sign up for an account with Adobe. Additionally, it is a BETA program, so expect occasional crashes.
MUSIC
Jamendo – As they say on the website, Jamendo is a place for FREE and LEGAL music downloads for use in your movies. Make sure and read the fine print, but the majority of the songs on the site (and they are good songs, as well), is available through a Creative Commons license. Thus, you can use a lot of these songs in your movies (provided you’re not making a profit from your films, and if you ARE making a profit from your films, loan us some money).
Beatpick – Another music site with free music available on a not-for-profit basis. This site is great, because you can specify the type of music that you’re looking for, download it, and try it out.
ccMixter – Another Creative Commons site with lots of music to sample, cut-up, and mash around as you please. Plenty of choices, and best of all, it’s free and legal.
SOUND EFFECTS
Soundsnap – Need sound effects for your movie? Soundsnap is a great resource for your needs. There are several free downloads available, or you can buy a premium membership to download even more.
The Freesound Project – Another great bunch of Creative Commons-licensed sound effects for your use and enjoyment (as long as it’s not for profit).
